All is Well! 05.02.11

Wow!! What a really crazy week it has been! I am sure that you have all heard about this terrible weather we have been having here. We have been so blessed that we were safe and ok and that all of the missionaries are safe and accounted for. It's been a whirlwind of an adventure for sure :]

So monday we stayed on the mountain again.. not my favorite thing... but we don't really have a choice because we don't have a car. We walked to the library to e-mail.. watched a couple of church movies.. took a nap.. that's about all.

Tuesday was good.We tracted for 5 hours... I got a huge blister on my foot... and still no success finding anyone. It's been challenging to stay positive about not being able to find anyone, but I am having faith that the Lord is preparing SOMEONE!

Wednesday was crazy! We got up, got ready, did our studies like normal and then we went upstairs to talk to Sister Hamn about the weather. She said that there were tornado warnings for all day. We called the office and we weren't allowed to go out at all. So we had an interesting day. We just talked to the Hamns and played some boardgames with them. We had a couple of really big wind gusts and a ton of rain, but luckily nothing too bad. Our power went out at about 7:30 pm so we had to get some candles. There was a really bad gust of wind that we thought might be a tornado so we went into the bathroom. It turns out that it wasn't anything too bad. We are so grateful that we are safe and that no harm came to us. But there are so many homes that got destroyed in one of our areas in Georgia. In Ringgold. The Elders there said that their apartment building was fine, but right next to them is levelled. It's really sad to see pictures of all of the distruction. President Hamn is working to organize some service down there and we are probably going to be doing a lot of that this next week.

Thursday we had zone conference. We rode with some elders serving in South Pittsberg, TN. We were supposed to have the conference at the stake center, and we got there and all of the missionaries were outside standing around.. Turns out that the power was out at the stake center. Pres. hadn't gotten there yet so when he showed up we started out meeting in the dark... But then he decided that we better go to another building that had power so we all drove to the Hixon building. It was a fun adventure trying to find our way there! haha. There were a few roads that were blocked.. but not too much damage. Zone Conference was really good! I love it so much! I always learn so much! We got to listen to a talk that Elder Holland gave at the MTC in Jan. It was really good. I don't have my notes, but I will have to send you some of my favorite things that he said next week. We got back to our house and we still didn't have power. No fun! We had to get creative with food. Luckily the Hamns fed us on Thursday.

Friday was good. We had to kind of re-arrange our schedule because we had to go to our branch mission leaders house to go shower. So that was interesting. They were going to Atlanta for the cultural celebration for the Atlanta Temple re-dedication. So we had the house to ourselves. Haha it was nice to shower and get ready. We did some more tracting and still no luck.

Saturday we tracted some more and we got to watch the cultural celebration! It was so cool! And we got to see all of the hard work that the young men and young women in our branch have put into it! They did such a good job! And our power finally came back on!! YAY!

Sunday we had the re dedication. It was so awesome! I miss the temple so much!! I can't wait to go back!! Elder Ballard spoke and so did Elder Gonzalez. It was really good! We did some more tracting. We talked to some really nice people.. but still no luck.. Oh well.. what can you do other than just keep doing! Haha!

So overall this week was good.. Just a lot of stuff going on.. Today we are in Chattanooga for the day. It is Elder Durant's birthday so we are going to lunch. And a member from Dayton is chilling with us. We might go to the zoo! It will be fun!

Well sorry this is short! I hope you have a wonderful week! Talk to you on Sunday!!!!!

love, sis. c
