Another one bites the dust. 10.18.10

I can't believe that it is already Monday again. This past week has just flown by. It's been a really good week. We had some really good tracting sessions... no return appointments but good conversations and some seeds planted. Mom & Dad, I wrote each of you a letter and sent some pictures so be watching for them. But disregard the first sentence... We had a baptismal commitment.. We no longer have one, but we are continueing to teach her. Her name is Anna Wynn. She just married a member about a month ago and we went over for dinner on Wednesday night. We taught her the message of the Restoration and then I committed her for baptism.. It was supposed to be this Saturday. She told us that she would be at church this week and we were really excited.. Well she didn't come to church and her husband came up to us after Sacrament meeting and said that she didn't want to be baptized but she still wants to learn. So we went to dinner at their house like we had planned and just talked a little to her and watched the Restoration DVD with them. We feel that she will most likely be baptized at some point, but she isn't ready yet. We will continue to teach her and encourage her to keep working toward baptism. To make the sting of that even worse, President Griffin came and spoke in Sacrament this week and we told him all about our awesome committment and then she didn't show up. It's really sad that she didn't because EVERYTHING that he and his wife spoke about were exactly what she needed to hear. it's just proof that the devil will try to keep you away from where you are supposed to be and if you aren't truly committed, you will miss out on what you are supposed to hear. Yesterday I was really sad, but today I feel like there is still hope. We are doing our best and we will be blessed for our efforts. I am so grateful to know that the Atonement isn't just for our sins. That it is really for our sorrows and heartbreaks too.
Sorry this is so short.. I don't have much else going on this week. I am going on an exchange tonight back to greenville for a night.I will be back in my area tomorrow night. Today for P-day we are going to a park by our apartment to play volleyball and horseshoes. It should be really fun!! Hope all is well! I love you all. Thanks for your prayers.

P.S.
I almost forgot to update you on Alanah. She came to church this sunday and after sacrament, she came up to us and said that she needs to set up a time to have the 2nd discussion so that she can be baptized.. She actually said, "I need to have my 2nd discussion so that I can be baptized and marry a hot mormon boy in the temple and have cute little mormon babies and be we will be a cute little mormon family." Oh, I love Alanah! She is just too funny. I am glad that she knows what she wants and that her priorities are straight. We are meeting with her on Tuesday and teaching her before and after Young Womens!!! She also said that she really wants her mom to learn and join the church. SO there is potential there!! Good things are headed our way.. I know it!!
